Summary

The Director of Undergraduate Admission is pivotal in leading the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the admission counselor and visit coordination teams. This role is responsible for enhancing recruitment efforts, optimizing team performance, and ensuring that all activities align with the University's goals for attracting, admitting, and enrolling a diverse and academically talented student body.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership and Management:
    • Oversee the admission and visit coordination staff, ensuring a high-performance environment that supports the University's recruitment targets.
    • Hire, train, and mentor admission staff, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
    • Evaluate staff performance regularly and implement developmental or corrective measures as needed.
  • Strategic Recruitment Planning:
    • Develop, manage, and assess comprehensive recruitment strategies for designated territories to meet enrollment objectives.
    • Collaborate with the AVPEM in formulating and executing the overarching strategic recruitment, marketing, and communication plans.
    • Represent the Office of Admission at internal and external events (group visit day programs, Scholarship Day, high schools, colleges, community agencies, corporations, information sessions, etc.) as well as develop, coordinate, implement, assess, and report on new student recruitment activities.
  • Operational Oversight:
    • Coordinate daily operations within the Office of Admission, ensuring efficient workflow and effective resource allocation
    • Manage the admissions decision-making process, including a secondary review of student applications to uphold academic standards.
  • Marketing and Communication:
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of annual marketing and direct-mail strategies, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.
    • Work closely with the marketing department to align recruitment messaging with University branding and communication goals.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Utilize data analytics to refine recruitment tactics, improve yield management, and forecast enrollment trends.
    • Prepare and disseminate regular reports on recruitment progress, market trends, and team performance to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaboration and Engagement:
    • Engage with internal and external parties to promote the University and its programs, ensuring a consistent and professional representation.
    • Collaborate across departments to support student recruitment and address articulation issues between academic programs.
  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Remain informed on current trends, issues, and legislation affecting higher education admissions.
    • Undertake additional duties as assigned by the AVP or VP of Enrollment Management.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s Degree required and 3-5 years of advanced admission experience.

The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
