Job Description
The Application / Web Developer is responsible for providing analysis, design and programming for the administrative systems supporting Trine University’s business functions. Duties include business process analysis, delivering custom and purchased applications, and customer support. The position is also responsible for trouble shooting production issues, insuring regular backups of all databases. This position reports to the Chief Information Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop or purchase, implement, and support administrative software systems including the Jenzabar ERP system.
  • Design and develop portlet applications within the Jenzabar JICS framework.
  • Develop WEB enabled solutions that provide presentation and reporting of information and the collection of data relevant to the administrative processes of the University.
  • Consult with customer report writers as they develop custom Infomaker reports.
  • Troubleshoot production issues according to service level targets.
  • Provide excellent customer service in all written and verbal communications.
  • Work with University departments to identify ways to redefine and improve business processes.
  • Identify innovative solutions that support the University mission.
  • Act as primary IT liaison and consultant for assigned departments with the goal of communicating and marketing IT services, gaining customer feedback, and improving IT business process knowledge.
  • Identify and assist with implementation of application development best practices.
  • Manage applications security for the administrative software systems.
  • Provide support for the WEB content management system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skill Requirements

  • Knowledge of Windows XP, Windows 7, and Server 2003/2008 operating systems
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, Visual Studio.Net, C#
  • Skilled in SQL and Stored Procedures (MSSQL and Sybase)
  • Experience with database management
  • Working knowledge of Infomaker, or similar report writer.
  • Web development experience and familiarity with Coldfusion , Dreamweaver and ASP.Net
  • Experience with a higher education ERP application, especially Jenzabar EX
  • Experience supporting a Web content management system
  • Familiarity with project management concepts and proven ability to estimate work effort and meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products

Required Education

  • Bachelors degree in computer science or related discipline or equivalent experience
