Franks School of Education

Franks School of Education

Teacher preparation first began at Tri-State Normal College, now Trine University, in 1884. We shall always have a teachers’ training class, for the benefit of those who want to teach,” proclaims a school pamphlet published in 1886.

Since those days, when a teacher candidate took just four courses for 12 weeks to become a teacher, many things have changed. Our commitment to prepare the best educators has not. Today, the Franks School of Education is dedicated to three main goals:

  • helping you develop and expand your content knowledge;
  • helping you develop teaching strategies so children of all ages and abilities learn and grow (communication); and
  • helping you expand your knowledge of caring indicators and your ability to show all children you care.

Faculty
As former teachers, building and district level administrators, and department chairs, our faculty members know the theory and practice of the education profession. They share that knowledge with you to help you become the best professional educator you can be.
