Chemistry...the Central Science

As the central science, chemistry puts students at the heart of scientific discovery. Covering millions of chemical compounds and reactions, the study of chemistry is broken into the following subgroups:

• Organic chemistry, the study of compounds of carbon
  
• Inorganic chemistry, the study of compounds made up of elements other than carbon
  
• Biochemistry, the study of biological chemicals
  
• Quantitative chemistry, which is concerned with the precise analysis of matter
  
• Physical chemistry, the study of in-depth mathematical relationships within atoms and molecules

At Trine University, the chemistry curriculum provides a solid foundation in chemistry fundamentals, but with the flexibility you need to delve deeper into the specific areas in which you’re most interested. Experience

Areas of Study
As a chemistry student at Trine, you’ll have the opportunity to pursue multiple majors and minors. Academic advisers within the science department will help you tailor a four-year bachelor’s degree to meet your career objectives. For example, a student interested in technical sales or support might major in chemistry and minor in business.

The chemical industry is a thriving marketplace, and Trine students are highly sought-after graduates because they’re ready to make an immediate impact in the workplace. Chemistry majors are prepared for positions such as sales, drug development, cosmetics, agrochemicals and biotechnology.
