Internships
Students majoring in chemistry at Trine University gain hands-on experience in the laboratories on a daily basis. An internship can further enhance this experience by giving students training in a specific industrial setting.
Julia Nell (class of 2013) interned as a physical science technician at the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Robert S. Kerr Environmental Research Lab in Oklahoma. The laboratory is a part of the Ground Water and Ecosystems Restoration Division of the EPA. She learned new methods of particle size analysis of soils and expanded her knowledge of other basic scientific applications.
Adam Tuttle, a 2011 graduate, completed an internship with Univertical Corporation. Univertical generates a variety of chemicals that supply the plating and the printed circuit board industries. This internship not only gave Adam the opportunity to practice his lab skills, it strengthened his problem-solving, organization and time-management skills, as well. Now, after graduation, he is employed as a full-time chemist at Univertical.
