The typical Computer Science major enjoys solving problems. Many like to develop and implement software, whether it is for web development, interface design, system security, operating systems, or plain application programs. Some enjoy finding new ways to apply computer technology to solve problems. They are experimenters.  Can they configure a dual boot system with a choice of Windows or UNIX? Can they configure a small network with a Linux server and Windows Client Machines?  Others enjoy the pure notion of solving problems combining computations and computer science theory to create streamlined, efficient solutions.  Do you fit any or all of the above? If so, you would be a successful computer scientist.

We want you to consider starting your career in computer science with us at Trine University.  At Trine, we are committed to undergraduate education.   Students receive personal attention from the faculty in part due to small class sizes. The computer science curriculum follows the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) net-centric model, which focuses on network concepts, Web standards and technologies, network security, wireless and mobile computing, and distributed systems.  Hands-on experiments help reinforce student understanding of concepts and their application to real-world problems.  As faculty, our objective is to give you an excellent educational experience so you can be a productive professional and have a rewarding career.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts exceptional growth for computer science careers through 2016.  Most of our students go on to work in industry after graduation.  Recent graduates have secured positions at global companies while others have chosen work at small regional companies.  A few of our graduates have decided to go on to graduate school.
