Comments about your experience: After raising my family I decided to go back to school to obtain my dream of becoming a teacher. Trine was the perfect fit. Louis A. Dachtyl, 2000
Major: Elementary Education
Graduate School: Western Michigan University
Graduate Degree Program: Speech-Language Pathology
Employer(s): Student Therapies and Resource Services (STARS) and small private caseload
Accomplishments and Activities: Soccer, Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity, dean’s or president’s list (four times), academic honors.
Professional accomplishments since: Honored for commitment and service to students in Tucson Unified School District in 2004; specializes in working with students with developmental disabilities, reading and writing impairments, language processing deficits and augmentative and alternative communication needs; works in the school setting and also maintain a private caseload; runs a summer camp for students who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.
Comments: My experience at TSU was tremendous both professionally and socially. Through my teacher training I learned to look at the individual needs of each student and design lessons to meet those individual needs. This way of thinking transferred beautifully to my graduate training in speech-language pathology since so many of my students require individualized programs. With my background in teaching I can effectively work with classroom teachers ensuring that my students with language and processing deficits are able to be successful in the classroom setting. Socially I continue to stay in contact with many people I met at TSU and have developed friendships that will last a lifetime.
