Internships

The mechanical engineering department has opportunities for co-operative employment for those students interested in gaining real-world engineering experience while obtaining their degree. Students in the Co-operative employment program alternate semesters working at a Co-op partner’s facility and taking classes at Trine. A minimum of three work assignments is required to complete the program. Assignments typically progress in difficulty as the student gains more experience and education.

Typical initial assignments include updating engineering drawings, creating solid models from existing drawings, running a routine test or monitoring the quality of manufactured products. Typical final assignments include designing a new product or process, developing and supervising a test procedure, or developing and implementing a quality control program.
