Bioprocess Engineering Minor

Rationale
Trine University is unique in being an affordable private institution that specializes in undergraduate engineering education. This includes an exciting, industrial-focused Chemical Engineering program. Over the past two decades, there has been an increased focus on biological engineering techniques utilized by industries that include, but are not limited to: pharmaceuticals, food processing, consumer products, agricultural and biotechnology firms. This increased focus from an industrial standpoint has resulted in a surging demand for prospective employees that have a strong background in both engineering and life sciences. By offering students the opportunity to broaden their educational training in growing technical areas, graduates from Trine are top-tier prospects for employers in these industries.

Curriculum
The minor in Bioprocess Engineering is open to all engineering students at Trine University. For a chemical engineering student to complete his or her degree with this minor, one extra course is required. With proper planning, a chemical engineering student can easily complete the chemical engineering program, along with this additional coursework, in four years and within the 12–18 hours covered by current full-time tuition (sample schedule). For an engineering student in a major other than chemical engineering an additional semester of coursework would typically be required to complete this minor.
