March 18, 2010 – A master of science in leadership will be offered through Trine University′s School of Professional Studies beginning this summer. Designed for bachelor degree holders and working professionals, it will be offered at Trine regional campuses in Angola, Fort Wayne, South Bend/Mishawaka and Merrillville, and through the Trine Virtual Campus online school of study.

It will provide advanced training in people– and problem–oriented competency for graduates in the areas of business, engineering and arts and sciences. It will also promote and encourage lifelong learning for those working in a variety of fields in which success is enhanced by visionary, strategic leadership.

The degree will offer five areas of concentration: healthcare systems studies, international studies, non-profit organization studies; strategic foresight and entrepreneurship, and sustainable business administration. Students will complete a capstone experience in their selected concentration area, giving them an opportunity to apply core and content-area skills to a real-time, organizational need, issue or problem.

The new degree responds to a need expressed by those with bachelor degrees, said SPS Dean David Wood. "In the past year, a growing number of graduates have expressed interest in pursuing a master′s degree that will provide advanced theory and training in organizational management, decision–making, problem–solving and leadership skills so that they may progress in their career journeys," Wood said.

New cohort sessions begin Fall and Spring semesters at regional campuses and on the Trine Virtual Campus May 3, 2010.
