TSU’s Thunder football team delighted fans by opening its season with two wins, first over Manchester College on the Spartans’ home field, and then against Defiance College at home. After a loss to non-conference foe Franklin College, the Thunder bounced back over Homecoming weekend to defeat Kalamazoo College. TSU prevailed in the next game with a 23-20 overtime victory against Adrian College at Shive Field, taking the annual Black & Blue Border Brawl trophy from the Bulldogs for the first time ever. The team then lost one to Olivet by a touchdown on Oct. 20. A record number of students joined TSU’s Blue Crew fan group during this year’s Community Expo activity sign-up and events extravaganza in the University Center, signaling a strong support year for our teams.
