The softball team is 25-7 and leads the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association with a 9-1 record. Kara Graham (Climax, Mich./Climax-Scott′s) and Sallie Richardson (Jackson, Mich./Napoleon) have both earned all–conference honors, while Graham and Amber Matthews (Corunna, Mich./Corunna) have been named regional Player of the Week by Division III Softball – The Newsletter. The Thunder look to challenge for a third–straight league title and second–straight NCAA tournament berth. Men′s lacrosse is on roll, winning five straight contests. The Thunder (6–7) are paced by sophomore Cory Childs, who averages 4.67 goals a game, the 11th best in all of Division III men′s lacrosse. Women′s lacrosse is gaining momentum as well. Trine is 5–5, including an exhibition win over Butler University. The program is making steady strides and shows much promise. In track, Louis Posa (Tecumseh, Mich./Clinton) broke the Thunder javelin record. At the Manchester College Spartan Classic April 18, he heaved the javelin 59.20 meters (194.22 feet) to break a Thunder record. In the process he earned a provisional entry to the Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, May 21 to 23, at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. The previous Thunder best was 178 feet, eight inches. Posa also was honored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association as a Scholar All–American. In March, the men′s tennis team captured their first–ever Thunder doubles tournament title. Trine made it official, as the No. 4 doubles team of Jared Stump (Angola, Ind./Angola) and Kyle Gruber (South Haven, Mich./South Haven) held off Grand Rapids Community College to win the tie–breaker.
