$90 million Vision for the Future campaign goal in sight.
Prepare to Celebrate!
The closing of the 2009 fiscal year on May 31 shows the Vision for the Future capital campaign on track to reach the lofty goal of $90 million, with room to spare before our Homecoming celebration in early October. In the eight years between June 1, 2001 and May 31, this campaign has been responsible for positioning Trine University for the students of this new century.
As a result of this historic campaign period, capital improvements on the campus have totaled close to $40 million, including the construction of the University Center with library and technology center, student dining, 320–seat theater, and student life offices. We have seen the completion of the Athletic and Recreation Center (ARC), the revitalization of old Sniff Hall into the C.W. Sponsel Administration Center, and the transformation of the original cafeteria into beautiful Forman Hall, home to our admission center, business office, and registrar. We also saw Best Hall of Sciences updated and a campus–wide wireless technology plan completed. These figures do not even include the building of new apartment–style housing, which adds 700 beds for students.
The University′s endowment has grown by nearly $12 million during the campaign, and nearly $20 million additional gifts from estate plans have also been pledged. Significant dollars have been raised to support academic programs and laboratory and classroom improvements. We have also added a new facility to house our growing music program. The T. Furth Center for Performing Arts will hold a 700–seat auditorium when completed. We have also seen a growing amount of support for the Annual Fund, which allows the University to offer student scholarships and faculty support.
This impressive and historic period has literally changed the face of our University. We thank all those who continue to be a part, whether large or small, of this unbelievable success. The rapid increase in enrollment and excitement over the last two years supports the vision unveiled when the campaign began. The momentum generated by the Vision for the Future campaign positions Trine University well to continue serving our historic educational mission. As we prepare to celebrate reaching this lofty goal this fall, we do not rest on our laurels. Rather, we acknowledge the unceasing challenges in education that also continually present new opportunities for success.
