Vision for the Future Campaign

2009 GOAL: $90,000,000 – Completed!

The Vision for the Future capital campaign has achieved the Phase I goal of $90 million. During the past eight years, this campaign has been instrumental in positioning Trine University for the future.

As a result of this historic campaign, capital improvements on the campus totaled $65 million, including the construction of the University Center with library and technology center, student dining, 320–seat theater, and student life offices. We witnessed the completion of the Athletic and Recreation Center (ARC), the revitalization of old Sniff Hall into the C.W. Sponsel Administration Center, and the transformation of the original cafeteria into beautiful Forman Hall, home to our admission center, business office, and registrar′s office. The Jannen School of Arts and Sciences was renovated and a campus–wide wireless technology plan implemented. In addition, the campus added new apartment–style housing, which included 700 student beds.

The university′s endowment grew by nearly $12 million during the campaign, and nearly $20 million of additional gifts from estate plans have also been pledged. Significant dollars have been raised to support academic programs and laboratory and classroom improvements.

The annual fund also saw increased participation, allowing the university to offer more student scholarships and faculty support.

This impressive and historic period has literally changed the face of our university. We thank all those who were a part, whether large or small, of this unprecedented success. The rapid increase in enrollment and excitement over the last two years support the vision unveiled when the campaign began. We acknowledge the unceasing challenges in education that continually present new opportunities for success. There is still much work to be done.

Phase II of the university’s Vision for the Future capital campaign, still in the silent phase, will raise $75 million for endowment, capital projects and the Trine Fund for student scholarships and university operations. Nearly $26 million of total funds are designated for capital projects such as the remodeling of Ford Hall to house the Ketner School of Business, the renovation of the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts and the renovation of Hershey Hall athletic complex.
