2012 Season in review
The Thunder women’s tennis team improved by three wins over a season ago, including picking up their first conference win since 2008. The ladies finished the season 6-12, marking the most wins in a season for the team since 2007 when they won eight.
Jessica Huhnke was honored during the week of April 1 as the MIAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the first time in her career. Huhnke, a sophomore from Newburgh, Ind., won 11 straight matches to start the season before falling in a third set tie-breaker to Kalamazoo.
Huhnke became the school’s first ever play to be named to the All-MIAA First Team as the conference announced their postseason awards.
Huhnke, a sophomore from Newburgh, Indiana (Castle HS), finished the season 15-3 in the first singles position, including going 6-2 in conference play. In doubles action, Huhnke was 7-11 on the year.
