Yoga is a combination of physical poses and breathing and meditation techniques. The wellness benefits that come from yoga touch mind and body. Not only is yoga relaxing, but it also helps develop your flexibility, strength, and balance. The emphasized breathing that comes with yoga often helps lung capacity and this deepening and lengthening of breath can stimulate the relaxation response. The specific meditation techniques that yoga uses helps quiet the mind, relieving the mind of stress in the process. Yoga poses safely stretch muscles and release built up lactic acid that causes muscle stiffness, tension, pain, and fatigue.
