World Class Facilities
T. Furth Center for the Performing Arts
The T. Furth Center for the Performing Arts is currently under renovation and will feature a world class 750 seat auditorium. The original structure is a beautiful Greek Revival church building that has been a cultural icon for over one hundred years to the city of Angola and north east Indiana. The front of the building features fifteen steps and four massive Bedford limestone pillars leading to the ceremonial entrance.
The main level will contain the Ryan Concert Hall designed to continue the Greek Revival style and incorporate state of the art acoustic treatment, sound and light reinforcement. Ryan Concert Hall will also contain a world class Reuter pipe organ. The ceiling will feature the renovation of a dome from the original 1910 design and the auditorium will retain all of the original stained glass windows and full balcony that surrounds the entire auditorium.
A large addition to the west side of the building will house the Strock Rehearsal Hall for large instrumental ensemble rehearsal. The addition will also feature practice rooms, studios, offices, music library, and a large back stage area to the auditorium in matching architecture to the original building.
The lower level will house the vocal ensemble rehearsal hall, percussion studio, electronic music lab featuring Wenger "V" room virtual acoustic environment, full digital recording studio, two classrooms, and several practice rooms.
The university plans to renovate the center in response to growing student interest in the arts and also to establish a venue for large–scale productions, concerts and other events. For more information about this project, click here.
