EMP Certification
What is this Program?
The EMP certification program is a wellness initiative designed for all Trine University students who would like to learn to live healthy lifestyles. The program’s focus is to help students make positive decisions in three areas – emotional, mental and physical wellness. These interrelated components are essential to living a balanced and healthy life.
Trine’s EMP program focuses on a variety of topics, presented in many different ways. In order to receive an EMP certification, students must earn a minimum of 100 points. Points may be earned over a two-year period; however, students are encouraged to complete the certification in one year.
Depending on the programs a student attends, the certification can be earned by attending as few as eight sessions. There will be plenty of opportunities to attend sessions throughout the year, and a student does not have to attend every workshop to receive a certification.
What are the Benefits of the Program?
Completing the EMP certification is a way to improve one’s overall well–being and achieve a healthy lifestyle. By learning how to live a balanced life, students become wellness advocates and are better equipped to help themselves, friends, family and the community. Throughout the certification programs, students will learn how to:
- Improve overall health and well–being
- Maintain a safe and healthy lifestyle
- Respond to a crisis situation
- Learn skills to help yourself or others deal with an unhealthy relationship or situation
- Learn skills to cope with stress
- Develop a sense of emotional, mental, and physical balance
These skills are beneficial in a student’s personal life and are also transferable to the workplace. Employers will be impressed to see that a student has taken the initiative to learn how to live a balanced life. A balanced individual makes a happy, more productive employee.
