Director of International Admissions
This position reports directly to the Executive Director, Office of International Services. The Director’s primary responsibility is to assume the activities of international new/transfer student recruitment, University presentations on financial aid/scholarships (limited), coverage of international college fair programs, high school and university/college visits, and inquiry/applicant follow up, etc. As it relates to international student recruitment, this person also will have some international travel responsibilities for recruitment purposes, assists with group campus visitation programs (e.g. open houses), student employee training (admission intern), and website monitoring and maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Director has a responsibility for assisting the Executive Director in planning, implementation and evaluation of all programs and efforts, which seek to enroll an academically talented and culturally diverse student body. Annual, the Director is responsible for providing the Executive Director with a comprehensive marketing plan to recruit new students, which thoroughly analyzes and assesses Trine's international student markets and concludes with the realistic and "stretch" goal projections. More specifically, these international recruitment responsibilities include:
Coordinating international recruitment responsibilities with the International Admission Coordinator.
Supervision of staff members (including International Admission Coordinator and student employees).
Ability to travel internationally for recruitment purposes as well as working with international recruiting agents and organizations.
Familiarization and understanding of global secondary educational requirements in order to accurately assess and interpret transcripts and programs as they relate to the successful admission of candidates to the University.
Assume some responsibilities of DSO (Designated School Official) and liaison to SEVIS including processing of initial I-20 forms.
Familiarization and understanding of SEVIS rules and guidelines, along with thorough knowledge of I-20 and DS-2019 forms.
Working closely with the PDSO and RO to ensure accurate SEVIS reporting of changes of major, graduation extensions, etc.
- Will take on other duties as necessary and assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have an appreciation for the value of a comprehensive engineering, education, business, health sciences, arts and sciences education, a valid driver’s license, up-to-date Passport, enthusiasm for and ability to do international traveling, experience and skill working with computers and software programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Jenzabar, etc.), and ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year (preferably private) college or university is required, Master’s degree preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with two or more years of previous international new student recruitment, related international experience, demonstrated cultural awareness, and fluency in a language other than English.
