Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program. The purpose is to promote the education, recruitment and retention of outstanding undergraduate and graduate students in science, mathematics, and engineering studies; the DoD is also interested in supporting the education of future scientists and engineers in a number of interdisciplinary areas. Scholarships awarded include a cash award of $25,000 to $41,000, full tuition, required fees, and a book allowance. The SMART Program will allow individuals to acquire an education in exchange for a period of employment with the Department of Defense. The program is intended for U.S. citizens; students must be at least 18 years of age to be eligible for an award. Application opens August 15 and the deadline is in December 2009.

FFCU began its scholarship program in 1997. Talbots Scholarship Foundation will award $180,000 in college scholarships for the 2011 academic year, including up to ten (10) $15,000 scholarships and one (1) $30,000 scholarship. Trine University students are eligible to be a part of one of the top nuclear programs on earth, the U.S. Navy Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate Program (NUPOC). It offers up to $168,300 while finishing your degree, providing a regular monthly income ranging from $3,280 to $5,610 for up to 30 months prior to your graduation. That includes a generous military salary, a food allowance, plus a housing allowance that is based upon the location of the school you attend. You'll also enjoy comprehensive military health-care benefits - with no uniforms, no drilling requirements and no service obligation until you graduate.

This program is available to individuals who have maintained a GPA of at least a 3.0 and have completed two semesters of calculus and calculus based physics with a grade of "C" or better. If selected, you will receive a $15,000 bonus and a monthly stipend of up to $5,610 a month while finishing school.

Also, you will receive full medical/dental benefits during the duration of the program, and accrue time in service while in college. You will then begin the process of being commissioned as a Navy Nuclear Officer and take on unrivaled training and professional responsibilities. Through this highly competitive program, there are opportunities in any of four career focus areas. To recognize outstanding forensic science students and to encourage students to pursue a career in the forensic science profession, the Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners (AFTE) has established a scholarship program. Each year, a student from an accredited university in a forensic science focused degree program will be selected to receive a one thousand dollar ($1000.00) scholarship award. The Foundation is now accepting applications for our 2011-2012 Memorial Trust Scholarship. Scholarship award(s) will be determined in March 2012. Applications may be found online at http://www.csieducationfoundation.org.

TO BE ELIGIBLE, THE APPLICANT MUST:
1. Be an Indiana resident or attending a college within the State of Indiana, currently enrolled and pursuing a design or construction related degree, e.g., architecture, engineering, interior design, construction administration, construction technology, etc.

a. Determination of degree eligibility is at the sole discretion of the Foundation.

2. Have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours.

3. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on scale of 4.0.

4. Submit all required application materials on or before February 24, 2012.
