Federal Direct Stafford Loans
Trine University participates in the Federal Direct Stafford Loan program. The lender for this is the U.S. Treasury Department through the Department of Education. There are two types of Stafford Loans through the Federal Direct Loan program: subsidized and unsubsidized. Not all students are eligible for both. The difference between the two is that Stafford Subsidized loans have the interest covered by the government while the student is enrolled at least half-time in school. The Unsubsidized will accrue interest while in school and it is capitalized to the loan when the student begins repayment. To be eligible for these loans the student only needs to complete a FAFSA and be enrolled more than half-time in school.
Students do need to complete Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note for us to be able to process the loan. This can be completed at www.studentloans.gov. You will need your FSA ID and password to log in.
