TRINE UNIVERSITY ARCHIVES
The mission of the Trine University Archives is to collect, preserve and organize materials related to Trine University in order to provide access for research purposes and to preserve the history of the University.

TRINE TRIANGLE STUDENT NEWSPAPER ARCHIVES 1934-2009
The archives of Trine's student newspaper, The Triangle, are available online from 1934-2009 at http://trine.newspaperarchive.com/. For questions about searching the archive, contact Carly Statz at statzc@trine.edu.
COLLECTION POLICY
In order to accomplish this mission, the following materials will be collected:
- University publications such as yearbooks, newspapers, bulletins, marketing material, alumni directories and other formal printed material.
- Photographs, slides, videos, films, and audio recordings relating to Trine University.
- Memorabilia such as posters, certificates, invitations, programs, commemorative mementos or any items directly related to Trine University events, organizations or history.
- University reports, historic ledgers, minutes and other documents of Trine University that represent an event of major significance to the history of the University.
Due to limited space in the archives and to provide room for growth, only those items deemed to have enduring historical value will be retained. The following guidelines will also be observed:
- Framed certificates and photos will be removed from frames and stored in archival folders or boxes.
- Only those plaques and honorary certificates that document Trine University history will be retained.
- The Archives will continue to collect items within its scope, such as yearbooks, publications, posters, photographs, and other items that document Trine University as it continues and grows.
The Trine University Archives reserves the right to use gift materials in the manner it decides is in the best interests of the University. Because of space considerations, it may not be possible to accept all donations.
ACCESS
The Trine University Archives are open to the public. Although it is not required to make an appointment, it is recommended as the Archives may only be accessed when a member of the Archives staff is available. An appointment can be made via e-mail, telephone or in person. In order to preserve the contents of the Archives, the following access policies will be observed:
- Items in the Archives may not leave the Library. In rare cases, the Archives staff may allow Trine University administration, trustees, faculty or staff to checkout items.
- Food and drinks are not allowed while using any archival materials.
- Only pencil is allowed for taking notes while using any archival materials.
- White cotton gloves, which will be provided by the library, must be worn when handling archival photographs or other fragile items.
- Researchers must preserve the order of the items within boxes and folders.
- Archives staff may permit or be able to scan, photocopy, or provide other reproductions to researchers and Trine University employees as needed. The Archives staff reserves the right to refuse to allow the copying of materials that are fragile and could be damaged.
- Researchers are responsible for determining copyright law and how it pertains to his or her use of the materials.
