Meet Allen Hersel

Trine University - Allen School of Engineering

Avid golfer whose goal is to improve engineering education.

B.S. Missouri University of Science and Tech; Ph.D. Yale University

I have been a professor at Trine University since 2003. Before that I worked for the PQ Corp., Koch Industries and Kellogg Brown and Root as a process chemist and engineer.

My research is focused on improving engineering education in the area of bioprocess engineering and separation science. I am working on a new textbook, "Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering Separation Science," that will integrate traditional chemical engineering and biological separation techniques.

I enjoy developing novel bio–separation laboratory experiments that incorporate active, cooperative learning and making them universally accessible through the Internet.

I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nev. and am an avid sport fan. In my spare time I enjoy playing golf, working in the yard, and spending time with my wife, Tricia, and two sons, AJ and Jonathan.
