Ann Benson and her shoes

Self–proclaimed professional shopper with a lot of chemistry in the classroom.

B.S. chemistry Tulane University; B.S. science education Tri–State University; M.S. science education Indiana University

I am a native of New Orleans, and although I have lived in Angola for many years, I am still a Southerner at heart. While I was growing up, my older brother had a chemistry lab in the family garage. His interest in chemistry sparked my interest in science. After receiving my bachelor′s degree, I worked for E.I. Dupont for several years, never imagining that I would ever teach. However, I completed graduate studies and started teaching chemistry at Trine part–time over 30 years ago.

I have been at Trine ever since. I thoroughly enjoy all of the aspects of teaching chemistry. I especially enjoy applied chemistry, and in particular, forensic science.

I consider myself a "professional" shopper, and I enjoy gardening and waiting on my two Persian cats, Marigold and Magnolia. As department chair and forensic science program director, I can answer many of your questions regarding all of our science curriculums.
