One of Tim′s passions is cryptology – the study of secret codes or ciphers and the devices used to create and decipher them.
B.S. in Computer Science and Electronics Engineering, the Union Institute. M.S. in Computer Science, University of Cincinnati College of Engineering.
I have served the students of Trine University since 2005. Before that, I taught computer science at the University of Cincinnati for 12 years. Since arriving, I have made presentations on genetic algorithms and on the needs of computer examiners for the FBI and developed courses in digital forensic science and cryptology. I have visited the FBI computer labs in Chicago and Quantico to improve my digital forensic science courses. With the help of the National Security Agency, I have taken my cryptology students to visit the NSA Cryptologic Museum in Fort Meade, Md. In October 2009, I made a presentation at the NSA Symposium on Cryptologic History.
In 2008 I earned the McKetta Award for Teaching Excellence. That same year, I earned the certified computer examiner (CCE) and became a member of the International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners.
