Criminology is not merely work for Erica Hutton, Ph.d.. It's her passion.
B.S., Liberty University; M.A., Argosy University; Ph.D., Capella University
I am a Criminal Psychologist and native of Norfolk, VA and had the pleasure of joining the Trine University Department of Criminal Justice, Psychology & Social Sciences in 2011. I have been teaching university courses for eight years and 12 years prior to this full time endeavor I worked in the field of mental health. I have had many opportunities to work with victims, offenders and criminally ill individuals alike. My specializations pertain to behavioral profiling, death investigations, criminology and forensic psychology.
I developed the Trine University Criminal Justice Master's concentration in Forensic Psychology, an innovative program and the only one of its kind in the state of Indiana. I am eager to watch the program expand and evolve as graduate students are allotted opportunities to challenge their abilities, dedication and passion associated to the synergistic bond that subsists between forensic psychology and the realm of criminal justice.
I have the desire to educate, empower and equip my students with the tools necessary to be professional and successful within their area(s) of interest. Enriching the lives of others is an immeasurable experience and I am sincerely appreciative to be a part of that process at Trine University. When I am not teaching or developing curriculum, I am publishing books and journal articles, speaking at conferences to train law enforcement and criminal justice professionals, and consulting on crime scenes nationally and internationally.
