Second career in teaching is a blessing

B.S. - Indiana University; M.S. and Certification in Statistics - Purdue University

“Our talents are the gift that God gives us… What we make of our talents is our gift back to God!”  -- Leo Buscaglia

Helping students gain knowledge to develop their God-given talents, to watch them grow in confidence then to see them succeed, is what I love about teaching. My goal is to challenge students in a way to prepare them for a real-world environment.

I bring a unique perspective to teaching in that education is a second career for me. I hold degrees in advertising, marketing and management from Indiana University. I developed marketing departments for two different companies and won awards for advertising pieces I designed.

I have always had a strong passion for working with young adults, which was the driving force that led me into education. I taught at the high school level for nearly 20 years, teaching mostly honors, advanced placement and dual credit courses. During a portion of that time, I was the head of the math department and on several district committees. I won teaching and service awards throughout the years. I also taught courses at the university level while attaining my masters in mathematics and certification in statistics at Purdue University. In 2012, I joined the team at Trine University.

God has truly blessed me. I am doing what I love. I live on a small farm in Whitley County with my husband of 25 years and our two children. My daughter is a sophomore at Grace College and my son is a junior in high school. My hobbies include reading, horseback riding, cruising, vacationing, watching Peyton Manning, watching my son wrestle and spending time with my horses, dogs, cats and especially my family and friends.
