To say that Karen has a passion for teaching, may be a slight understatement.
B.Ed., University of Toledo; M.A., Bowling Green State University; Ph.D., University of Toledo
My professional life began with and has always centered upon a love for teaching and a personal commitment to being an effective teacher. I began as a high school English teacher, and then moved into higher education-experience which has given me the privilege of teaching students ranging from middle school age through doctoral programs.
In addition, I have had the opportunity to design professional development workshops for practicing teachers and have made presentations at many national professional conferences. I love being involved with the preparation of future educators and helping our students become quality teachers by creating an environment of challenge and exploration for them. Over the years, I have helped prepare hundreds of future teachers which is a source of great pride and accomplishment for me.
I was born, raised, and educated in northwest Ohio, and began my college career as the first in my family to do so. I have two daughters who are also teachers, and four grandchildren. I love attending musical productions, working out (Zumba!), and traveling. Besides spending time with family and friends, I love being on a beach enjoying a good book and the sound of waves.
