Meet Karen Hamilton

Trine University - Franks School of Education

To say that teaching is in Karen′s blood, would be a gross understatement.

B.Ed., University of Toledo; M.A., Bowling Green State University; Ph.D., University of Toledo

My professional life began with and has always centered upon a love for teaching and a personal commitment to being an effective teacher. I began as a high school English teacher, and then moved into higher education, which has given me the privilege of teaching students ranging from middle school age through college graduates.

In addition, I have had the opportunity to design professional development workshops for practicing teachers. I teach introduction to teaching and middle school methods courses. I love being involved with the preparation of future educators and helping our students become quality teachers by creating an environment of challenge and exploration for them.

I was born, raised, and educated in northwest Ohio. I have two daughters who are also teachers, and three grandchildren. I love attending musical productions and playing Bridge. Besides spending time with family, my favorite pastime is reading nonfiction while relaxing on a beach.
