Meet Sue VanWagner

Trine University - Franks School of Education

A Spartan who makes an impact on every student.

B.S., M.S., Ph.D., Michigan State University

My teaching career began in a self–contained fifth grade classroom. I loved working with these students, and continued to teach either sixth–, seventh–, or eighth–graders for 10 years. I have taught in college/university settings since.

I truly believe that every child should have the opportunity to achieve any goal he/she has. I believe well–prepared teachers who know their content and care to help all children learn are essential to this process. No child should ever have a poor teacher.

If you hear Abba music playing, you can bet I am not too far away. You can′t imagine how many times I have seen MaMa Mia! on stage and in movie theaters. I also enjoy listening to books on tape. Hours of driving have given me many opportunities to listen and learn. My interests range from mysteries to biographies to historical non–fiction.

I love spending time with my siblings and their families. My birthday is March 5, my younger brother′s birthday is March 5, and my even younger sister′s birthday is March 4. It is an extra "holiday" for our family — one we all enjoy. Since almost every one of us is a graduate of MSU, green and white often plays an important role in where we go and what we do. I also love spending time with my dog, Buddy.
