Meet Tim Tyler

Trine University - Allen School of Engineering

He makes a lot of noise.

B.S. and M.S. West Virginia University., Ph.D. Virginia Tech

Although I have worked as a consulting civil engineer in the Midwest and on the East Coast, I enjoy being a civil engineering educator the most. Why? Because it is incredible to me to see young freshmen entering college with no idea of what civil engineering is about, and to see them progress to gain a solid understanding of the profession′s basics. My focus is geotechnical engineering, which deals with the application of soil mechanics. Young civil engineering students are stunned to find the importance of knowing the technical side of dirt!

I enjoy XBOX, reading classic literature and operating a weather station with data feeds to the Internet. I am an amateur astronomer, have played drums in church bands and collect bird data used by ornithologists for research. I thoroughly enjoy gardening and chasing golf balls around Zollner Golf Course.
