Meet David Finley

Trine University - Allen School of Engineering

When Finley is not in the classroom, you will most likely find him somewhere outside.

B.S., M.S. University of Michigan; M.S., Ph.D. Wayne State University; P.E. Indiana

As Vice President for Academic Affairs at Trine University since 2004, I oversee educational programs throughout the institution. My career began as an environmental consultant in the Ann Arbor, Mich. area, assessing the impacts of industrial activities on the natural environment. In addition to my administrative and teaching duties, I serve as chief adviser to the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society chapter on campus.

A native of south–central Michigan, I developed a love of the outdoors in my youth via hunting, fishing and camping. This led to my interest and study of weather phenomena. In addition, I enjoy athletic pursuits, including windsurfing and golf. My children and I can often be seen bicycling and playing tennis on campus. An avid genealogist and member of Clan Farquharson USA, I am also very proud of my Scotch–Irish and German heritage.
