Meet Haneef Anver

Trine University - Jannen School of Arts & Sciences

Haneef′s love of mathematics transcends.

B.S – University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, M.S., Ph.D. – Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

Mathematics has been a dominant part of my life – in the sense of learning and teaching. I have found that the best way to share my knowledge of mathematics is to teach. I feel great joy in teaching when I see my students understanding and absorbing the material presented. My college teaching career spans 10 years, and I′ve taught mainly mathematics courses. This is my second year teaching at Trine, and I have taught mathematics and statistics courses.

I have worked on kernel density estimation on non–parametric statistics. My research interest is mainly focused on using Hellinger distance as an error criteria and bandwidth selection for univariate and multivariate densities. Also, I like to work on mathematics programs such as Mathematica and Matlab and statics programs such as R and SAS.

Outside the classroom, I am a huge sports fan. When I′m not doing math, I like to spend my time playing badminton, racketball and soccer. Apart from sports, I like to be outdoors doing anything that is adventurous – from rock climbing to camping and hiking. Originally from Sri Lanka, I love to travel and meet people from different cultures.
