Meet Mike McNamara

Trine University - Ketner School of Business

Mike brings his experience and expertise in broadcasting right into your class room.

B.S. Ohio University; M.A. Marietta College

I joined Trine in 2007 and restructured the Communication Department, moving into and remodeling the Ford Building to provide an ideal learning environment. I introduced 12 new classes, and was honored with the Excellence in Teaching Award.

A Cleveland native and U.S. Air Force veteran, I have worked in media over 30 years. I began as an announcer with Armed Forces Radio/TV Network during the Vietnam War, and continue as a freelance broadcaster, often taking students on assignment!

I have been a TV news anchor and sports director, assignment editor and producer, and play–by–play broadcaster. I was proud to claim The Associated Press Best Documentary of the Year Award for a piece on deadly floods in the Mid–Ohio Valley.

I tell students two things. First, college will be the fastest four years of your life, so use it to discover something you love to do. Then you′ll never "work" a day in your life. Second, life isn′t measured by the breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. Those moments for me are when I′m with my grandchildren — Brooklyn, Boston and Jackson – all future COM majors!
