Trine's Sarah Brown named
to 40 Under 40 class of 2013

ANGOLA, Ind. – The director of Trine University's annual giving has been named to Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly's 40 Under 40 class of 2013.

Sarah L. Brown, director of annual giving since June 2010, has been recognized for her career achievement and community service. Brown graduated from Tri-State (now Trine) in May 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a concentration in management.  She earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Indiana Wesleyan University's Fort Wayne campus in 2003. She is also a 1994 graduate of Hillsdale (Mich.) High School.

She and other members of the 40 Under 40 class will be honored with a dinner and awards ceremony on Thursday, March 14, in Fort Wayne. They are being recognized for their career achievements and community service.

Brown began her career with Trine in November 2007 as director of student life before becoming director of alumni relations and events in June 2009. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member and teaches supervision for Trine's online program.

"Sarah's enthusiasm for meeting with alumni and learning about their accomplishments shows in her efforts as she continues to increase dollars for our student scholarship fund," said Kent Stucky, vice president for development. "The fact that she, too, is an alum makes her a great fit for this role at Trine."

Brown credits mentors, supervisors and a network of colleagues and friends with helping her move ahead. "I am fortunate to have worked for managers who want their employees to grow and flourish," Brown said. "This has really helped me to advance at Trine."

She was inducted into Trine's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005 because she was a member of the inaugural women's golf team, was a four-year starter, was the team's No. 1 golfer on the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics national championship team in 1997 and earned NAIA All-American Honors. In 2007, she was inducted as a member of the 1997 NAIA golf national championship team.

Outside of her position at Trine, Brown is a member of the board of directors of the Steuben County Humane Society, vice president of Junior Achievement of Northeast Indiana and chair of its public relations committee, a former volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters and a member of Phi Sigma Sigma sorority.
