13th annual gala scheduled for Feb. 13
JAN. 25 – Enjoy an evening of live music, gourmet food and wine tasting during the 13th annual Trine University Scholarship Gala in February.
The black tie event blends the entertainment of live and silent auctions with the goal of raising money for scholarships. Last year, a record-setting $535,000 was brought in for student scholarships. This academic year, Trine awarded more than $24 million in institutional aid.
“We are always astounded by the generosity of those who support and attend our premier event,” said Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., Trine president. “We value friends old and new who share in our goal of generating scholarship funds for our deserving students.”
The event begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 in Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics, Inc. Athletic Recreation Center, 1001 Thunder Drive. Wine tasting and silent auctions start the special evening followed by dinner and live auctions at 7 p.m. The Trine University Jazz Band under the direction of Brian Derek will perform live music.
Silent and live auctions include a Colts jersey signed by Peyton Manning, tropical vacation destinations, dining and entertainment options, and a variety of other options. The plethora of items means there is likely something for everyone.
Also available for sale are Books and Beyond Scholarships for $500 each. As they have for the past few years, Trine board chair and alumnus Rick L. James and his wife, Vicki L. James, and Metal Technologies Foundation are offering a $100,000 matching grant for the scholarships. The unique program was established to help financially disadvantaged students with book vouchers, personal computers, basic school supplies, special project needs and tuition gap assistance.
To reserve tickets for chef-inspired dinner, donate an auction item or get sponsorship details, please visit trine.edu/gala or call 260.665.4114. Tickets for the evening are $75 for individuals and $150 for couples. The special event is Valentine’s weekend, making it a great way to celebrate.
