Shakespearean tragedy to be performed in November
The Trine University Drama Club invites members of the community to open auditions for “Macbeth” from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 6 and 7.
Auditions will be held in the Wells Theatre in Taylor Hall. No previous acting experience is required, and actors of all ages are welcome. Those who audition will be provided with several short selections to read.
“Macbeth” will be performed in the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9, 11 and 12. Rehearsals are planned from 7-9 p.m. Sundays through Wednesdays beginning Sunday, Sept. 11.
A tragedy by William Shakespeare, “Macbeth” tells the story of Scottish general Macbeth, who, following a prophecy by a trio of witches, is consumed by ambition and, prompted by his wife, murders the king and assumes the throne. As the play progresses, guilt and paranoia result in more murders, madness and death.
