Performances to be held in Fabiani Theatre and T. Furth Center

MARCH 14 — On Sunday, March 20 Trine University will host two recitals on its campus. Both concerts are free and open to the public.

Up first will be Dr. Jiyoung Jeoung, who will perform a piano solo recital at 3 p.m. in the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts, 500 W. Maumee St. Her selections will include well-known pieces such as The Andante with Variations (Un Piccolo Divertimento) in F Minor (Hob. XVII:6) by Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) and Piano Sonata No.18 in E Flat Major, Op. 31, No.3 by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827).

Dr. Jeoung was born in Gwangju, South Korea. She currently works as a piano instructor at Huntington University and Manchester University in Indiana. Dr. Jeoung completed a Doctoral degree and Master's degree in piano performance and organ performance at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She has been a regular performer on Northeast Indiana's National Public Radio Program "Meet the Music." In 2011, she had her debut performance at the Weill Recital Hall of New York City's Carnegie Hall as a first prize winner at American Protégé International Piano Competition.

At 4 p.m., Trine senior music major, Elyse Buehrer, will give her senior recital in Fabiani Theatre, in the Rick L. and Vicki L. James University Center. Buehrer will be singing art songs and arias from the baroque, classical, romantic and contemporary eras, in a variety of languages. Composers on the list include Christoph Willibald Gluck, Hector Berlioz, Robert Schumann and Charles Ives.
