Student Distinction Award named
for former professor Samuelson

The end of April  marked an exciting time for Trine University’s Humanities and Communication (HAC) department.

Not only was the inaugural HAC Student Distinction Award presented, but it was also revealed in a surprise ceremony the award is named for former professor Jeanine Samuelson, Ph.D.

Sarah Young, assistant professor in the HAC department, announced at the department’s Honors Day on April 30 event the HAC Student Distinction Award would be known as the Dr. Jeanine Samuelson Student Distinction Award. Samuelson then presented the award to the student-selected winner, professional writing and English studies major Alison Falls. Falls is a freshman from Fremont.

Assistant professor Justin Young said he is glad to honor a beloved professor through this award. “Jeanine was not only a wonderful professor in her time at Trine, but she continues to be an invaluable member of the university community through attending events, taking classes, judging in the Cunningham Writing contest and more,” he said.
