Funding will help develop Innovation One
ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University is proud to be a recipient of a $1 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. as part of the Endowment's Initiative to Promote Opportunities Through Educational Collaborations. Indiana's 39 accredited colleges and universities received a total of $62.7 million in grants from the Endowment to enhance and expand opportunities for their college graduates to find meaningful employment in Indiana.
Trine University will use its funding to further develop Innovation One, a comprehensive, collaborative service delivery framework that will foster economic opportunities, create jobs and prepare Trine students and the regional workforce with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed, lead and serve in their chosen careers in Indiana.
Innovation One will address three critical intersections of the education to employment continuum that frame the challenges faced by Trine students and the northeast Indiana workforce: finding a best-fit career preparation program, building skills that meet the needs of employers and finding employment.
"Innovation One will address workforce challenges faced by Trine students and residents of northeast Indiana," said Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., Trine president."The Endowment's generous support will enable us to prepare our students and the regional workforce to master the skills required to meet the employers' demands and succeed in the global marketplace."
Innovation One will help to connect business and industry with higher education in an effort to create jobs in Indiana and align work-ready students and employees with these new opportunities. To meet this goal, Trine will continue to develop successful co-ops, internships and other opportunities that can lead to meaningful job placement and job creation; collaborate with business and industry to provide hands-on projects that generate results that are beneficial to the clients and educational for Trine students and faculty; and develop compelling collaborations that will result in good employment opportunities in Indiana for college graduates.
