Trine receives energy grant
$100,000 will replace Hershey Hall boiler
June 8, 2010--Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman announced that an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) has been awarded to Trine University for energy efficiency upgrades to its Hershey Hall through a boiler replacement project. Grantees were selected through a competitive application process.Trine received the maximum grant of $100,000.
The EECBG program is funded through the U.S. Department of Energy and administered in Indiana by the Indiana Office of Energy Development. The purpose of the Indiana EECBG Program is to assist eligible entities in creating and implementing strategies to reduce fossil fuel emissions in a manner that is environmentally sustainable; reduce the total energy use of the eligible entities; increase energy efficiency; reduce energy consumption and energy costs through efficiency improvements; and create new jobs and increased productivity to spur economic growth and community development.
Skillman will preside over an award ceremony for grantees at 10 a.m. on July 1 in the North Atrium of the Indiana Statehouse.
