Wood promoted to
assistant vice president

ANGOLA – David W. Wood was promoted to assistant vice president for academic resources and planning at Trine University this week.

Wood has served as dean of the Trine University School of Professional Studies since 2009. Wood previously held numerous staff and teaching positions in higher education, including director of distance learning at Indiana University-Purdue University, Fort Wayne.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Oakland City University and his master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. He plans to complete his doctorate in management during the 2012-2013 academic year.

“David is a tremendous asset to Trine. He has served as an entrepreneurial and strategic leader that has taken the School of Professional Studies and other departments to the next level. His focus has truly been on making Trine a world-class institution,” said Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., president of Trine University. “David has consistently met the needs of our faculty, staff and students by implementing his vision for new programs, technology and a customer-service model that supports the needs of the entire organization.”

As the dean of the school of professional studies, Wood and his team opened five new educational centers in 2011, serving the communities of Avon, Columbus, Logansport, Warsaw, and Sturgis, Mich. Wood also implemented a new program that garnered him national attention last year when he replaced traditional textbooks with e-books.

Wood established the Trine Virtual Campus in 2008, which offers more than 14 degree programs to students in Indiana and around the world.

In his new expanded role, Wood will continue to serve as the dean for the School of Professional Studies and will lead the Trine Virtual Campus, Middle College, community education programs, academic technology, help desk and the main campus bookstore.

“I am excited about the future of Trine University and the opportunities we have to serve the needs of all learners,” Wood said.
