Fort Wayne mayor to talk at Trine
ANGOLA — Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry will speak at Trine University as part of the Ketner School of Business Lecture Series Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. in Fabiani Theatre, on the school’s main campus in Angola. The event is free and open to the public.
Henry will talk about his experience with creating and improving relations between the community and various Fort Wayne constituents since taking office in 2008. He worked to improve public relations, so that others might view Fort Wayne as a great place to live and work.
In a tough economic climate, Henry has led the city in balancing its budget and continuing to fund programs. He also worked to help create the state’s first Boundless Playground, where children of all abilities can play together.
Before being elected mayor, Henry served as a Fort Wayne City Councilman for 20 years, representing northwest Fort Wayne residents from the 3rd District from 1984 to 2004. He also owned an insurance agency and health care consulting firm and acted as chief executive officer of a group-purchasing organization, which served hospitals in the tri-state area.
“Mayor Henry’s experiences will demonstrate to our students that business, politics and public service all go hand-in-hand,” said David Finley, Ph.D., vice president for academic affairs at Trine.
