'A Night of Broadway' is Feb. 23;
'Celtic Music of Cinema,' Feb. 24
ANGOLA, Ind. -- Trine University's music department will offer two free performances that will feature a variety of selections from Broadway and the big screen.
"A Night of Broadway" will give audience members a sampling of music from nine musicals, including "Les Miserables," "The Phantom of the Opera," "The Little Mermaid" and "Jersey Boys." The University Choir and Musical Theatre/Opera Ensemble will perform 19 selections from these musicals.
"Trine's vocal ensembles are excited about performing these semi-staged selections from some beloved mainstream musicals," said Monica Vernot, director of vocal music.
"A Night of Broadway" is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, in Fabiani Theatre in the Rick L. and Vicki L. James University Center.
The next day, four groups will give a free concert at 3 p.m. in Dale Hughes Auditorium in the Steuben County Community Center.
The Trine University Wind Ensemble, Three O'Clock Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble and Men's Vocal Ensemble will present "Celtic Music of the Cinema." The concert will feature music from "War Horse," "Lord of the Rings, ""Braveheart" and “How to Train Your Dragon.”
