House honors professor
ANGOLA, Ind. – For the first time, Trine University’s Christian Campus House presented a Distinguished Faculty Award during its annual banquet Saturday, March 31, in Fabiani Theatre in the University Center on the main campus in Angola.
CCH senior members selected electrical engineering professor Sean Carroll, Ph.D., for the award because of his high level of character and for being a positive influence in the lives of students on campus.
Carroll earned his doctorate from Princeton University and has been a professor in Trine University’s Allen School of Engineering & Technology since 1990. He advises Phi Kappa Theta fraternity and says that it keeps him in touch with students outside the classroom.
“Dr. Carroll has been an inspiration to many students, and we wanted to let him know that his efforts do not go unnoticed,” said Travis Wilhelm, director of the Christian Campus House and Trine chaplain.
He serves on the board for the McClue Nature Reserve and has been the webmaster for ACRES Land Trust, a nature preserve steward for an Indiana bog. He also works with Cahoots Coffee Café in downtown Angola.
Approximately 300 students, parents, alumni, friends and supporters attended the event.
CCH is a nonprofit, student organization that exists to introduce and bring students closer to Jesus Christ. CCH maintains a men’s house and administrative offices in two buildings near campus. In the past year, the organization experienced tremendous growth and wanted to expand its facilities to serve the growing number of female students getting involved with the organization.
