Wagler, Lee to serve as trustees

ANGOLA — Trine University is welcoming two new members to its board of trustees.

Steel Dynamics Inc. executive vice president and chief financial officer Theresa Wagler and president and owner of Leepoxy Plastics Inc. Lawrence Lee of Fort Wayne were elected to three-year terms on the board this month.

Wagler has nearly 20 years of financial experience. After earning a degree from Taylor  University, she worked as a senior auditor at Ernst & Young LLP. She then took a job as the assistant vice president at Fort Wayne National Corporation, where she led special projects related to internal control review.

In 1998, she advanced her career at Steel Dynamics Inc. as a corporate controller and principal accounting officer. She was promoted to executive vice president CFO in 2007. In her role, she has executed numerous high-yield transactions, raising over $2 billion.

Wagler serves as a director with the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Erin’s House for Grieving Children, Turnstone Center for Children and Adults with Disabilities and Steel Dynamics Foundation Inc.

A graduate of Indiana University and Harvard Law School, Lee has been the president and owner of Leepoxy Plastics Inc. since 1970. His philanthropic endeavors and civic involvement stretches from northeast Indiana to countries around the globe.

Lee has been involved with multiple committees and associations at IU. He currently serves as the chair of the friends board for the Fort Wayne Boys and Girls Club. He also is an advisory board member for the United Performing Arts Foundation.

He is recognized as one of 12 individuals to be named “pioneer in mainstreaming wheelchair athletes in competition with non-wheelchair athletes,” and is an honorary board of directors member of the National Spinal Cord Injury Foundation. In the 1980s, he participated in various ultra-marathon relays to raise awareness and funds for East African Hunger Relief.

“We are pleased to welcome these dynamic leaders to our board,” said Trine president Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D. “Their philanthropic and service efforts, combined with their excellent management and leadership skills, will be an asset to this institution as we look toward a promising future of progress and success.”
