Minor league baseball manager to speak Nov. 11
ANGOLA — The Ketner School of Business Speaker Series at Trine University will continue Thursday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. in Fabiani Theatre, with Lynn Kachmarik, vice president and general manager for the South Bend Silver Hawks minor league baseball team.
Kachmarik has experienced sports from all aspects — coaching, administration and as an athlete. She is considered to be an early pioneer of women’s water polo. She was a member of the U.S. Women’s National Water Polo team for 12 years. She was among the first group of women to be inducted into the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame and the first woman inducted into the Collegiate Water Polo Hall of Fame. She was a six-time All-American selection in her water polo and swimming at Slippery Rock University, where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education.
Kachmarik held multiple aquatic coaching responsibilities at Bucknell University and was the first woman to ever coach a men’s NCAA Division 1 team sport, the water polo team.
On the administrative side. Kachmarik has served as the executive director for the South Bend/Mishawaka Convention and Visitors Bureau and the director of athletics and recreation at St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame.
