Welcome Robert Moreland

Attorney to join Trine's administration

 

ANGOLA, Ind. – Attorney Robert Moreland will join the Trine University administration as vice president and general counsel on Jan. 3, 2012.

“Rob is a valuable addition to our administration,” said Trine University president Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D. “His expertise will prove vital to the future prosperity of this institution as we continue to expand our educational and economic footprint in northeast Indiana.”

Moreland currently is a partner at Baker & Daniels in Fort Wayne.  Baker & Daniels will become Faegre Baker Daniels on Jan. 1, and Moreland will maintain his affiliation with the firm.  He was honored with the firm's Charles L. Whistler Pro Bono Award in 2009. He is a 1984 graduate of Anderson College and a 1988 graduate of the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington. He has a wide range of experience in labor and employment law. He regularly presents to employers and other groups on a diverse range of topics, including the use of technology in the courtroom and in practice, ADA, FMLA and other employment-related topics.

He has worked extensively with the university for several years. He now will lead Trine’s efforts in overseeing the human resources department and represent the university on a number of topics and issues relevant to the growth and progress of the institution.

Moreland is a current member of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Fort Wayne Base Community Council Board of Directors.  He served on the DeKalb County Plan Commission from 1992-99.  He is a member of the Allen County Bar Association, DeKalb County Bar Association and Indiana State Bar Association.
