Pizza enlivens Trine move-in
Seven local eateries pitch in
Local pizza restaurants showed support for Trine University by donating their product for delivery to the Stewart Hall lawn for the enjoyment of students moving back to campus on Aug. 22.
Seven stores—Domino’s, Tasty Pizza, Pizza Hut, Pizza Forum, Pizza King, Little Caesar’s and Hungry Howie’s donated pizzas for all new students and resident assistants. To provide even more excitement, the Trine Office of Student Life provided human foosball, laser tag, adrenaline rush and bungee run inflatable games to allow students to test their skills. The Fort Wayne band Basement What? Played music for the event co-sponsored by the university’s Christian Campus House, Commuter Student Association and Office of Student Life.
“My summer intern is a resident assistant, and we decided on move-in day that this would be a great way to acquaint new students with what the Angola pizza places have to offer,” said Whitney Doyle, student activities coordinator for the Office of Student Life.
The university has significantly increased total incoming student enrollment for each of the past five years, growing from 317 in fall 2004 to 508 this fall for an increase of 62 percent. Trine housing officials will serve 1,030 on-campus residents this fall semester, an increase of 108 percent since 2002.
