Financial aid on the job
Two students receive awards
Trine University’s Office of Financial aid secured two recent monetary awards given by foundations to Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI) member school students.
Rachel Towers, a senior chemistry major at Trine, received one of four $2,500 Heuer Foundation scholarships awarded by ICI. Preference for the award was given to chemistry majors. Matthew Dean, a junior accounting major, received one of six $500 book stipends awarded to ICI from the Flora Dale Krouse Foundation. The students received notification that their awards will arrive in the Trine Office of Financial Aid this month.
“Our office is dedicated to tracking scholarship and award opportunities for Trine students,” said Kim Bennett, executive director of admission and financial aid. “Even in a challenging economy, we seek out every opportunity to channel funding to students in need of financial assistance.”
Last year, Trine University awarded $10 million in scholarships of its own to deserving students. Of every tuition dollar, Trine awards 40 cents back to students in the form of scholarships and financial aid.
